About Beyond the Walls for Kids
Our mission...
is to provide specific strategies to vulnerable children who have family members with drug addiction issues, which often lead to criminality and incarceration; to help these children cope with current stressors related to these issues, as well as to prevent behaviors and choices that could lead to their own future drug use and/or incarceration.
Our Services
It is a disturbing statistic that 70% of children who have family members who have addiction or incarceration issues will themselves become addicted or incarcerated. Beyond the Walls for Kids uses a comprehensive approach to address these difficult issues, providing education, emotional support, special guest speakers, individual mentoring as well as group work, stress management activities, and positive coping skills—all in a safe environment. A variety of materials, including award winning books, are also utilized to help children make wise choices in their lives, and hopefully avoid the destructive drug/incarceration trap.
